GMB has worked with Northampton County in the development of the Northampton County Government Complex. GMB performed the utility master planning and site design services for the new government complex. Due to the complex nature of the funding process, and the critical timing element, GMB has continually evaluated the phasing for infrastructure design and installation, as necessary to meet the overall needs of the project. In ongoing discussion and analysis, GMB and Northampton County representatives have evaluated multiple infrastructure alternatives in reference to ease and cost of maintenance, flexibility for future developments or potential changes in the site’s land plan, as well as cost-effectiveness. GMB’s continued efforts ensured that the solution to the infrastructure needs was both cost-effective and practical.
GMB designed an onsite wastewater treatment plant for this complex that included provisions for treating nitrogen down to levels below 10 mg/l. It has a treatment capacity of 47,000 gallons per day. It uses drip disposal for 33,000 gallons per day and trench drain fields for 14,000 gallons per day.
Additional civil engineering services provided by GMB included site design, stormwater management, sanitary sewer gravity collection system and pump station, wastewater treatment plant, elevated storage tank, new wells, and water main.
Most recently, GMB completed the design and permit approvals for the installation of a water treatment system to the existing raw water wells. The water system upgrade includes the installation of a commercial water softener system to treat iron and manganese and a chemical feed system for disinfection prior to the distribution of the water throughout the complex. GMB worked with Northampton County to utilize existing infrastructure and retrofit the existing water building to minimize additional costs for the project.
