Contreras Elected to Serve on ASCE Maryland – Eastern Shore Board of Directors

GMB congratulates Kerica R. Contreras, P.E. on being elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Eastern Shore Branch.
ASCE is a national engineering organization focused on advancing the practice of civil engineering and providing professional development, advocacy, and industry standards. The Eastern Shore Branch brings together engineers throughout the Delmarva region for networking opportunities, education, advancement, and community outreach. Their work includes mentoring middle and high school students and promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in area schools.
Kerica is a structural engineer in our Salisbury office and has extensive experience in engineering design. She provides structural designs using post-tensioned concrete as well as conventional wood framing and masonry, conducts structural conditions inspections and evaluations, and prepares Long-Term Reserve Studies.
Kerica is also experienced in field engineering during construction, including a $4.8 million project to construct the 51st Combat Communications Squadron Facility on Robins Air Force Base, which received an Outstanding Construction Contractor Appraisal Support System (CCASS) rating from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She spent 10+ years as a K-12 Mathematics Teacher in the Dominican Republic, State of Georgia, and State of Maryland. Additionally, she served nearly 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Avionic Sensors Technician. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Kerica holds the following degrees – a Master of Education from American Intercontinental University, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida State University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Management from Okaloosa-Walton Community College. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland and has been a member of the ASCE since 2019.
