GMB Wins Delaware Engineering Excellence Honor Award

GMB is proud to have been selected to receive a 2013 Engineering Excellence Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Delaware for the recently completed Washington Street Flood Control and Stormwater Retrofits Project.
GMB provided engineering services to the City of Seaford to address repetitive extreme flooding around Washington Street. The project began with an in-depth analysis of the existing storm drain system, which was determined to be vastly undersized. The design of a new system was adapted to include stormwater retrofits. This unique approach to municipal stormwater management is the first of its kind within western Sussex County, by applying “green” technologies in an urban environment. The project solves a practical problem with a sustainable solution. Incidents of flooding will be significantly reduced, and cleaner water will flow to the Chesapeake Bay.
